13,000+ Pixel Cubes Extend the Stage into the Stands
EnjoyGalaxy returned to WorldSkills for the
Shanghai 2026 Opening Ceremony, with more than
13,000 wireless LED pixel cubes turning the
audience stands into a giant screen. Following our involvement
in Kazan 2019, this was another opportunity to help bring a
WorldSkills opening ceremony to life through audience lighting.

A Bigger Canvas for the Opening Ceremony
In Shanghai, the visual design reached beyond the performance
floor. Colour and imagery continued across the seating areas,
giving the stage a much wider canvas. The pixel cubes filled
the stands with light, creating the dreamlike atmosphere
that made the audience area part of the scenery.
For spectators, that changed their place in the show:
the image was not only in front of them, but around them.
Each light contributed to a picture that could be seen
across the venue.
Connecting Audience Lighting with Floor Screens
The audience display was designed to work alongside the
floor screens and stage lighting.
Coordinated colours and visual sequences linked these
different surfaces, allowing the composition to stretch
from the floor into the stands.
This relationship gave the performance its depth.
The floor screens carried the imagery at stage level,
while the audience pixels extended its presence around
the venue. Together with the lighting, they created a
multidimensional setting for the live performance.
Trusted Again: From Kazan 2019 to Shanghai 2026
Our previous WorldSkills opening ceremony project took us
to Kazan, Russia, in 2019.
Returning in Shanghai seven years later was a meaningful
moment for the Enjoy Tech team. We are grateful for the
renewed trust in EnjoyGalaxy and proud to have contributed
to both ceremonies.
